Pre-Kindergarten Program

Hilldale School’s Pre-K program provides care, supervision, and academic instruction for 4- to 5-year-old children who will attend Kindergarten the following year. We believe that children’s cognitive, social, and physical growth is best accomplished in a setting where their interests and abilities are carefully nurtured by a mature and caring staff. At the same time, we aim to maximize each child’s personal growth and development.

This class focuses on advanced Kindergarten readiness with an emphasis on early childhood literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts, Spanish, music, art, and movement. The children participate in a variety of “hands-on” activities which provide challenge and encourage creativity and curiosity. Each week, your child will grow in all skill areas through exposure to:

  • Letters & Language Activities

  • Numbers & Math Activities

  • Science Explorations

  • Geographical Awareness

  • Circle Times, including Calendar, Reading, Show & Tell, Songs

  • Arts & Crafts

  • Music & Movement

  • Dramatic & Creative Play

  • Computer Activities

  • Indoor & Outdoor Free Play Time

  • Social Readiness Skills

Our curriculum encourages children to “Wonder, Discover, and Explore,” as well as to make the most of their talents and interests. In fact, most of our children will complete the program at the end of August knowing their numbers to at least 100 and beginning to read, all while having lots of fun. Come visit us and see for yourself why we have a superior program!
