ART KETCHUP DAY!

Hello, my amazing artists!
Can you imagine, this school year is almost over and the summer fun is about to start!
This week's homework assignment is to catch up on all of your missing work. Check google classroom and see if any of your assignments marked "missing". Sometimes, the assignment is marked "turned in" but there is no attachment: as you know I can not grade your work if it's not uploaded. Please check both, homework and classwork.
By the way, did you know that June 5th is National Ketchup Day? What a coincidence!:-)

Beliefs about dragons vary drastically by region, but dragons in western cultures since the High Middle Ages have often been depicted as winged, horned, four-legged, and capable of breathing fire.(source: Wikipedia)

Art historians found and cataloged drawings, sculptures, etchings, architectural fragments depicting dragons from many parts of the world, please see images attached.

Hello, my amazing artists!
Happy 2020!
Did you know that according to the Chinese zodiac, 2020 is the year of the Rat?
The Rat is the first of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. The Rat tricked the Ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived at the finish line, Rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox, becoming first. Quick thinker!
Our first homework assignment of 2020 is to draw a famous rat character (or a mouse).

Hello, my amazing artists!
This week we will be drawing a teacup (or a coffee mug) from observation. As always, we are looking for the biggest shape to identify. In cups and mugs, it is either a cylinder or a sphere. Start by drawing a vertical guideline. As we are trying to convey the 3d form of the object we pay attention to the depth of the teacup-the circular (oval) opening and the base. Remember our classroom discussion and try to avoid a common mistake: oval opening and flat base.
Here's the link for advanced students of step by step instruction.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello, my amazing artists!
The homework assignment for the next week is to draw a tree leaf from observation. The Fall season gives us an opportunity to draw many beautifully colored tree leaves from observation. So next time you go for a walk, look around, you might just find a leaf waiting to be drawn!
To show the rich colors of the leaf use colored pencils. If you decide to use the favorite pencil of Shakespeare, 2B can be used to shade the leaf, showing a variety of darker and lighter areas.

Hello, my amazing artists!
This week's assignment is to draw a dinosaur in the natural setting.
Since the first dinosaur fossils were recognized in the early 19th century, mounted fossil dinosaur skeletons have been major attractions at museums around the world, and dinosaurs have become an enduring part of world culture. The large sizes of some dinosaur groups, as well as their seemingly monstrous and fantastic nature, have ensured dinosaurs' regular appearance in best-selling books and films, such as Jurassic Park(source: Wikipedia).
I am attaching some of the dino drawings and the links for step-by-step tutorials for those of you who need a little help to get started. Do not forget to add a background!

Hello, my amazing artists!

The homework assignments for the next week is “Imaginary Place”. Today we looked at some examples from the Romanticism period of art, which commands the free expression of the artist's feelings. To express these feelings, it was considered the content of art had to come from the imagination. Think of this assignment as a chance to create a new environment, your fantasy land, the place where everything is possible.
