Ms. Reda is thrilled to be the new middle school teacher at Hilldale. She moved to California with her three year old son from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, fulfilling her desire to move out to CA that began in 2005.
Ms. Reda was born in London (U.K.) and lived in Egypt, Spain, the U.S.A., Canada, and South Africa. She can speak Spanish well, her French needs practice, and she can understand Arabic. She received her Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and after several years went back to get a Masters in Middle School Education. She realized that if she wanted to create positive change in the world, teaching would be the best way she could contribute. She taught middle School for 5 years in Fort Lauderdale, high school in Cape Town, South Africa for a year, and then home-schooled and tutored kids for a few months before her return to Florida. She has loved being able to stay home with her son but is excited to get back to work.
She believes in making the curriculum meaningful and relevant for each student. Students should have choices and opportunities for multiple types of assessment. All parties should be excited and eager to learn together. Socializing is a big factor in middle school, and so it is important to help our students work on their social skills, personal character, and being respectful of one another. Working in teams is a great way to practice these skills, so she provides opportunities for this whenever possible.
