Welcome to Mrs. Pacifico's Fifth Grade class! Fifth grade bridges elementary and middle school, and thus it is an important year for fine-tuning organization, note-taking, study habits, and other components of independence. Fifth Grade delves deeply into Earth Science and begins our two-year journey into America's exciting history, beginning with the Native Americans. The year is heavy in guided writing, as students learn to express and organize their thoughts through various types of essays in preparation for middle school. They also continue their study of Latin.This is the final year of arithmetic, and students hone their skills in using operations with fractions and decimals. Mrs. Pacifico works with the Fourth Grade teacher and the middle school teachers to help ensure a smooth and successful journey through Hilldale.
