Welcome to Ms. Jennifer Yamanoha's page! Ms. Y holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in California. She has taught in both private and public school settings in all of the following grades: Second, Third, Fifth, and Sixth. Due to her M.A.T. degree through UCI and experience as an educational research assistant, research-based strategies are central to her teaching, and data drives her instruction. Ms. Yamanoha loves an interactive classroom where students build their own knowledge, practicing metacognition and self-regulation. She treats each student as a individual with unique needs, abilities, histories, cultures, and learning styles and strives to provide a nourishing environment where students can be themselves. She hopes to challenge them to thrive as whole beings: physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. She models respect, mindfulness, grit, and resilience, so students feel safe to try, fail, succeed, and finally to excel. This year, Ms. Y will be providing support and differentiation in Math for 5th-8th Graders. She is excited to be back at Hilldale to serve in this specialty role.
