Fifth Graders explore the power of volcanoes at Hilldale School

03-26-2025

Year 5 students bring Earth science to life by building erupting volcano models and learning about geological processes through hands-on experimentation.

Our fifth graders at Hilldale School recently brought science to life by exploring the fascinating world of volcanoes. As part of their earth science unit, students learned how volcanoes form and erupt, then created their own models to demonstrate the process! Using baking soda and vinegar, they simulated eruptions and observed the chemical reactions in real time. This hands-on activity helped deepen their understanding of geological forces while sparking creativity and collaboration. At Hilldale, we believe that meaningful, experiential learning inspires curiosity and strengthens knowledge, and our young scientists truly erupted with excitement during this engaging project.
