What do Hilldale middle schoolers Aidyn and Ian have in common? They are both seventh graders. They have ice in their veins; they have wisdom in their brains and have Hilldale School DNA in their blood.

2020. What is there left to be said that has been unsaid? This has been a challenging year for all of us but amidst the trials, the obstacles and our school switching to remote learning, our Hilldale kids have put our school mantra close to their heart as they continue rising above the challenges. Pressure creates diamonds. Gold is tested in fire. Our Hilldale students stared down 2020 refusing to blink, back down and buckle under pressure. Their hard work, determination, perseverance have shown through, and we are so proud of them.

Aidyn impressed the San Mateo County STEM Fair with the burning questions she posed under the Earth, Space and Environmental Sciences category where she earned top honors for her project titled "Burning Questions" this year. Ian went with the shock and awe approach with his work titled "Shocking Static", which earned him top accolades from the judges. Aidyn and Ian rose over the challenges and are moving on to the prestigious 2021 California Science and Engineering Fair, where they will test their mettle amongst the best in the Golden State!
