Elements Of Art: LINE

This video by KQED Arts program is a fun way to introduce (or overview) one of the visual elements of art. In this video you can see how artists use various  lines to create unique works of art.
Line is the foundation of drawing. It's the first and the most versatile of the visual elements!
This contest from Blick art materials supply store invites students in grades K-12 to express their experiences and accomplishments gained through art!
Participants will create an artwork using mixed media (various papers, crayons, pencils, markers, pastels, paint, clay, found objects and/or any other art materials) and an artist's statement that completes a sentence
"With Art I Can..."
Please read the rules (and list of awards) of the contest here.

Bring your completed artworks and artist's statements (written on a separate piece of paper) to art class on April 7th, 2017
Do not hesitate to contact me if you need help with your entry/ artist's statement.
Last year student of mine won the Silver Award in K-4 division.
This year I hope to see YOUR name among the medalists!

Art Contest Update!

There were quite a few artists who wanted to participate in 2017 Art Takes A Bus contest. Awesome! I know some of you did not get a chance to complete your art works/ bring them to Art class this Friday due to early dismissal day. Bummer! If you are one of the students who created an artwork for the contest, please have your parent sign the release form ( the link is in previous post) and attach it to the back of your artwork.
I will stop by the school at lunch time on Wednesday, February 22 to collect your artworks and release forms. Please bring your artworks to Art classroom and leave them on the shelf by the phone for me.
You've got five days to finish up your artwork or create a new entry! Let's do it!
(1st -6th graders only)

ART CONTEST!

Art Takes a Bus Ride gives 1st -6th graders a chance to have their artwork displayed on the side of a SamTrans bus for an entire year! The student art also will be displayed on ad cards inside SamTrans buses.

This year's contest theme is The Magic of SamTrans.  The participation in this Art Contest is optional but I highly encourage artists 1st to 6th grade to create an artwork. Please bring your completed projects (and filled out entry forms) to art class on 2/17/2017. There is an Entry form that needs to be filled out by parent to accompany your artwork, it can be printed from here: entry form

I will mail the entries to Redwood City office. Winners will be revealed at the SamTrans Board Meeting on May, 3 2014.

More information can be found at www.samtrans.com/artbus Please take a look at winning artworks from previous years. Those entries were created by students just like you! You can do it!
