In a special small group time, we made hands-on Place Value Spinners to help us understand and practice numbers up to 10,000. Each cup can be pulled apart to show how many places it holds and its true value. What is the biggest number you can make using your spinner? Can you make a number larger than 1700 and smaller than 3500? What would 5783 be when rounded to the nearest hundred? The students had a lot of fun manipulating their spinners to show their understanding of place value!
