In a couple weeks we visit the planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences. To get ready for our trip we have been studying all about our solar system. Students know the planets in order, closest to farthest from the sun. We have talked about what constellations are and read legends from Greek and Roman mythology that explain some of the images associated with the stars. Then we each chose one to cut out, sticker with glow-in-the-dark star stickers, and hang as a mobile. In the dark they recreate the star patterns from our night sky!
