Great performance! All of you sang so nicely and every could understand your words. You have learned so much Spanish is music this year that Sr. Cohen is going to be very impressed when you start in his Spanish class.

Please keep singing all your favorite songs plus watching and practicing your takadimi.

See you next week!

SING:

La Rana

Here is a link to the lyrics in Spanish with an English translation. This week: Learn the verse for: rana, mosca, arana, rata, gato, perro, maestra. That is the whole song!!!

Here is a video to watch and enjoy. It's pretty silly.

We will not sing about the "hombre" or the "abelula" --- our lyrics will be different for this part. We will sing about the "maestra." The kids will learn this in class --- just wanted you to know that our words are different so the kids don't get confused by the video.

Also the singer has a Spanish accent (Castellano) -- if the kids copy it, that is fine but does not matter. His diction is very clear -- so that's why I chose this one as our example.

Do all notes have heads?
Can you make your head be a line note?
Can you make your head be a space note?

CONGRATULATIONS on a terrific performance!

You all did a wonderful job and worked really hard to master all your songs. Thank you!

Over the winter break, you do not have any homework in music but I hope you will have a chance to go see a live performance some place. Bay Area Kid Fun has a list of shows and events for kids. The San Francisco Symphony has a great series of family concerts. And my favorite place to take kids for live music is SF Jazz. They have Family Matinees throughout the year -- often followed by a free music workshop (get there very early to reserve a spot).

Encourage your kids to sing and move to music over the winter break. Happy holidays!

Sing and learn the words:

A Million Little Snowflakes -- Please listen to the recording (below) and help your child learn the lyrics. Most have learned them in class, but this assures that your child is confident about singing.

A Song of Peace -- Next week, you'll receive a hard copy of the lyrics with your child's homework packet. The are attached below as well. Please listen to the recording and focus on getting your child to sing the lyrics to the chorus. Once they are confidently singing that, please help them learn the verses. Again, we do most of this in class, but it's a lot of lyrics for kinders to learn and the more confident they are, the more they enjoy singing.
