Assignment

This week at home:

Review and play and sing solfege:
  • Pentatonic scale -- Page 6
    • Sing solfege so you become familiar with the note names. Play various rhythms.
  • C Major scale -- Page 14
    • Sing solfege so you become familiar with the note names. Play various rhythms.
Carnival of Venice -- page 19 -- Focus on playing/singing part 2. If you are good at that, work on part 1. Your test for this will be due on September 24. Don't worry about this yet. I'm just telling you so you know the deadline.

Intervals -- pages 20 & 21 -- If you already read music, know solfege and all about scales, just playing through this page until you can easily find all the notes is probably enough. But if you're not an interval expert, take a look at the following videos using solfege in C Major. Sing along, play along, test yourself.

Intervals with solfege:

Interval quiz:

C Major Scale:

Major Scale Intervals: (sing along)

TUNING:
Please download a free tuning app on a phone and tune regularly. Drop off your instruments in the music room Monday before school so we can spend all our time playing instead of tuning.

PRACTICE

Thanks!
